Pressure washers are the best cleaning machines for degreasing industrial equipment. Degreasing applications generally fall into two categories: heavy duty industrial degreasing and ordinary degreasing.
Heavy duty degreasing requires pressure washer machines with high output power and normally involves cleaning heavy equipment as well as removing hard-set dirt. The machines should have an output pressure around 3000 psi.
On the other hand, ordinary degreasing can involve cleaning slightly less dirty surfaces. Care must be taken not to damage the surfaces and intricate components of heavy equipment. Do not use pressure washers that provide extremely high pressure for this type of degreasing.
This article provides some tips for choosing and using pressure washers for degreasing of ordinary industrial equipment.
Ideally a pressure washer machine for this task should have a relatively low output pressure. Specifically, the output pressure level should not exceed 1500 psi. Pressure levels in the range of 1000 psi to 1500 psi are ideal. Output with this range of pressure has a reasonably good cleaning power and at the same time, does not damage delicate components.
Another advantage of using a pressure washer machine with lower pressure levels is that the flow rate is typically low for such a machine. Generally, a higher flow rate is found on a machine with a higher output pressure level. Low flow rate means less water is used during cleaning. As a result, areas are not flooded and machines can be used where drainage may not be able to handle higher flow rates.
In other words, an industrial pressure washer with an output pressure level of 1000 psi and 1500 psi and a flow rate of 2 GPM is the best choice for degreasing of delicate equipment.
Sometimes it is better to use pressure washing equipment with heated output. What these machines lack in output power can be complimented by enhanced output temperature.
Hot water pressure cleaners are a good choice, but machines that generate steam output are an even better choice. A high output temperature may not be a good choice for cleaning the not so hard surfaces in industrial equipment. So, what should one do?
Pressure washing equipment equipped with tri mode technology can solve the problem. These machines provide three types of output - cold water, hot water, and steam. Operators can choose the type of output based on the hardness of the surface.
Tri mode pressure washing equipment offer more flexibility than ordinary hot water pressure washers do. Operators can shift the output temperature of the machine depending on the task. Hot water pressure washers support only two types of output - cold water and hot water.
Both electric and gas pressure washers can be used for industrial degreasing. Gas pressure washing machines are often more suitable if the cleaning involves outdoor areas. Daimer®, a leading supplier of cleaning machines, offers a number of models of gas pressure washers in its Super Max™ series.
The Super Max™ 7000 is often recommended machine for this task. It is a gas pressure washer available with a variety of features, including tri mode technology, automatic refilling technology, and Automatic Shut Off Technology™. It is easy to use and has greater cleaning efficiency than other models in its range.
