5 Ice Blasting Applications to Consider

Are you considering buying a sandblaster? If so then you might want to put that thought on hold for a moment! While a sandblaster is a good idea and does have plenty of uses , there are also several downsides that you will want to consider, which we will list below:

  • Sand blasters get the job done, but they leave residue behind that needs to be cleaned up
  • Sand is highly abrasive and stands a chance of damaging your surface
  • Potentially bad for the environment

If you really want to be efficient, an ice blaster is definitely the way to go, for a few reasons. So why is it more efficient exactly? What is the difference? If you take the first point on our list, you will find that an ice blaster does not suffer from the same problem simply because the pellets it fires are converted to a gas the moment they hit the surface. The moment this happens, the gas loosens the dirt or debris from that surface, causing it to fall free. That being said, it is one of the easiest, and most efficient ways to clean, period. This point alone knocks out all three concerns from the list; if there is no leftover residue; cleanup is eliminated, and therefore not bad for the environment.

Potential Uses for Ice Blasting Hardware

If you are going to invest your time and money into ice blasting, there is a good chance you want to know what it is good for, and there are actually five outstanding applications that you can consider using it for once you incorporate it into your business. Let’s take a quick look at them.

  • Getting Rid of Gum – Every commercial building tends to have a problem with gum whether it’s stuck to the outside of a building or on a bathroom wall. Ice blasting equipment is far less abrasive than most other blasting options, making it ideal for spraying down walls and getting rid of both gum and other debris that might be stuck on them.

  • Assembly Line Cleaning – The items and components that make up an assembly line can be very delicate, and this means making sure that the cleaning methods you use won’t damage them, nor cause them any downtime. Ice blasters are a great way to ensure both of these things, as there will be zero downtime after the cleaning.

  • Food Service Cleaning – In a kitchen there are a ton of things that need to be cleaned, but chemical cleaning solutions leave you vulnerable for contamination of the very products you sell. The last thing you want to do is potentially poison your produce, and an ice blaster is a great way to get to the level of clean that you required without sacrificing quality

  • Automotive Cleaning – Let’s face it, your car gets dirty inside and out, but cleaning out the engine compartment can be quite the chore. The last thing you want to do is clean every part by hand, and you really don’t want to sandblast it. If you have ever seen a sandblaster in action, then you know very well what can happen if a single mistake is made. In addition to that, the residue left behind by either a sand or glass bead blaster can have negative effects on your vehicle. An ice blaster, on the other hand, will actually fire pellets that dissolve on contact, get the job done, and treat the vehicle gently. This is great for taking care of dirty brakes or cleaning up old tire rums before placing them on your vehicle.

  • Aerospace Industry – This might be a bit of a jump from the automotive industry, but the aerospace industry has been using ice blasters in their cleaning applications for years. These are great for, once again, cleaning tire rims, and other parts aircraft that tend to have their own residue buildup. Making an aircraft clean inside and out has never been easier than with an ice blaster.

These are five great and common uses for an ice blaster, and as you can see, they are a definite contender in the battle of the pressure washers. We strongly recommend you rent one for your business and decide whether or not it is a worthy investment. We guarantee that you will find at least one thing in your building that could use a good ice blasting – even if you didn’t know it before.
