The Two Types of Carpet Cleaning Machines

Carpet Cleaning MachinesWhether you are working on cleaning your home, or need to make sure your workplace is spotless, finding an efficient way to do it is paramount. When it comes to cleaning carpets there is plenty of reason to make sure that you get the job done right the first time. Dust and dirt will find their way into your house no matter what, and if you don’t keep up with the regular cleanings, it’s going to be floating around your house, kicked up every single time you agitate the carpet. If you think that’s not a pretty picture then don’t worry, you’re not alone in that, and there is even much more to it than simple aesthetic inconveniences. Take into account that every single time you disturb the dust and dirt in your home, you end up with particles in the air that can be sucked into your air conditioning vents and ducts. Now imagine those particles being cycled around your home, into the air you breathe. If you have allergies, that’s just a nightmare waiting to happen and you know it. This is where good carpet cleaning machines come into the picture, and you need to make sure that you pick the right one for the job.

Two Carpet Cleaners; One Home

There are generally two types of carpet cleaners to choose from, though there are several different variations of each. It will be up to you to decide which one is going to be best for the job at hand. Let’s take a look at both types.

Steam Cleaners

You’ve heard of these, you’ve seen commercials for them on television, among other carpet cleaning machines for sale, they really are one of the best choices. Rather than using abrasive chemicals, they simply use water, which is heated, turned to steam, and then fed into your carpet to loosen the dirt and other grime that has spent time adhering to the fibers in your carpet. Once this is done, it will simply suck the dirt up as if it were a standard vacuum cleaner, leaving you with clean carpet once again. In many cases this method will actually bring your carpet back to the state it was in when you first purchased it, saving you the trouble of replacing it just because it looks  a little dirty. It is known of course that commercial steam cleaners get the job done faster, and the carpet dries considerably faster due to the quality of equipment that they have on hand. If you are a residential user, however, you will probably find that the available models do the job just fine. This may in fact be the best carpet cleaning machine that you ever choose to invest in.

Carpet Scrubbers

These bear more resemblance to a vacuum cleaner than their steam based counterparts. Instead of attacking the floor with a barrage of steam, a set of bristles at the mouth of the scrubber will agitate the fibers in the carpet. At the same time, you can release a cleaning solution onto the carpet, which the bristles will then work into it. When all is said and done, the scrubber will suck the cleaning solution, along with any dirt or dust that it has freed back into the unit where it will be deposited into a separate tank. Once the tank becomes full you will need to empty it and start again. Typically, you will be able to clean an entire room or more before you need to empty the tank, and the capacity is even higher on the industrial models, as you will surely find. In addition to that, the industrial models have a faster heat up time and will probably clean far better than the consumer models that you purchase at the store. No matter what, using a cleaning solution may prove to be far more effective than simply steaming the carpet, especially if it is particularly dirty.

Now we have covered the difference between the two units, but you do have the option of using both if you feel that your home really needs an extra deep clean. In most cases people will start by using the carpet scrubber to give the rug the treatment it really needs, and then they will move on to the steam carpet cleaning machine to put the finishing touches on it.

The machine you choose to buy will depend upon your needs. You might be purchasing for commercial reasons, or you might simply be tidying up your home. The possibilities are endless, but they all point to the most important thing of all: a clean rug and a healthier home. Remember, you may not even feel as if you need one of these units, and you may be of the belief that your home or building is fine as is, but when you finally do get around to using a carpet cleaning machine you will quickly see the difference, and you’ll wonder why you waited for so long.
