Bus Washing

125836876_xlBuses, whether they are for the purpose of mass transit or simply for company use, eventually need to be cleaned out, and to put it lightly, they get messy. The USDOT has certain standards in place when it comes to making sure transit buses are clean, and it would always be within your best interest to stick with those standards. Why exactly? Mostly because you can be fined, and also because you may find that people no longer wish to utilize your bus, especially if they find something sticky on their seat every single time they ride.

There are  multiple methods of cleaning. There was a time when you might have had to simply walk through with a bucket of soapy water and a sponge, hoping for the best, but fortunately things have changed a bit and you can get the job done much faster, and much more efficiently with a power washing unit today. First of all, consider what kind of power washer you need, and then think about what you want to pay. The one thing we would strongly recommend of course is not purchasing a power washer that is below the specifications that you need. You might save money at first, but in the long run, it is going to cost you in labor, frustration, and added effort.

How a Power Washer Works

A power washer is essentially a hose, but it has a considerable amount of power behind it, as the name suggests. When you are purchasing one of these, make sure you pay attention to the PSI or Pounds Per Square Inch as this will tell you much force the device can output. In addition to that you will need to investigate the heating element along with the power source.

Because a bus is not easy to contaminate, so to speak, you can feel free to use a power washer that utilizes a gas power source. In most cases, our power washers will make use of diesel, and there are many benefits to using one powered by petrol rather than electricity. First of all, gas powered washing units are able to put out considerably more PSI than their electric counterparts, making them ideal for some of the nastier jobs out there. In addition to that, since they are not plugged into a wall, they can be moved anywhere, which makes it easy to clean your buses no matter where they happen to be parked.

If you require heat, these units do feature heating elements, most of them fueled by propane tanks. Keep in mind that having two gas sources does cause you to pay a bit more in the long run whereas electricity is an easy resource to renew. Still, the convenience and capability of these units will more than convince you to stick with them. It is most definitely something that you will want to consider before long!

Eliminating Bacteria

Let’s face it, it’s a bus, and that means it is going to draw bacteria. That being said, these cleaning units offer some serious bacterial cleaning in the form of heated water. Remember: heat is capable of killing bacteria at the right temperature and it will do so quite nicely. This is precisely why it is recommended you look into a heated unit before anything else. Yes, it’s more expensive and yes, it will be well worth it.

Interior Action

The big question on everyone’s might, and rightly so, is whether or not you can actually use a pressure washer on a bus interior. This concern is raised due to the stream’s power, and of course the fact that it could potentially destroy some of the interior. The truth however, is that most busses are pretty tough and can easily withstand a pounding from the pressure washer. This gives you a significant advantage and a method by which to ensure that your bus is perfectly clean. Now would be a great time to start looking into one of our pressure washers and using them for your bus.

One important thing to remember from all of this, is that buses attract dirt, dust, and sometimes chewed bubblegum. It doesn’t matter how careful you are about it, it will happen at some point, and when it does, you absolutely need to be prepared. Start looking at the options and decide what direction you want to go in. it won’t be long before you have everything you need to keep clean and keep healthy at the same time.
