When is Gas a Better Option than an Electric Heated Pressure Washer?

Electric Pressure WasherIf you’re thinking of getting a pressure washer for your business, you might be torn between the two major types, which are gas powered, and electric powered. We will tell you right now that there are significant differences between the two, even though they get the same basic job done. The first thing you need to know, is that pressure washers use a concentrating nozzle to boost water from the hose, doing so with 60 times as much pressure as your average gardening nozzle.

What is the benefit of this exactly? Quite simply, it is abrasive, and it can help you out by removing dust, dirt, and other debris from a surface with a matter of ease. In addition to that you will be able to purchase one of these devices for relatively cheap. In fact, the most expensive of the consumer models is about $300, though you should note that there are more expensive industrial brands.

Gas vs. Electric

Is there a clear benefit to gas over electric? One of the most commonly noticed advantages is that of pressure. The gas powered devices have much more pressure, and can therefore output at greater speeds. A gas powered pressure washer will be able to output about 2800 psi, which is a considerable improvement over its competitors. Believe it or not, he highest performing gas machines can output and clean up concrete in as little as five seconds. All in all, gas models were 10 times faster at stripping paint, as well as other items in a very short period of time.

Granted, there is more risk when it comes to choosing gas over electric because the pressure is greater, and you face two potential problems:

  • Personal Injury: It is definitely not impossible for you to hurt yourself easier on a gas powered pressure washer than it is on an electric hot water pressure washer. The risk of injury is high, but with the right training you can overcome this, and use a powerful gas powered pressure washer to your advantage.
  • Damage to Equipment: If you have sensitive equipment, then going all out on your pressure washer can actually hurt more than you think. For example, if your factory uses sensitive computer equipment or much needed components to kept water blast contained.

These are two items that you might consider when you are thinking about getting a pressure washer, but you also have to think about the practicality of the entire thing. For example, if you are constantly cleaning client houses, among other things, then you probably want a pressure washer that is able to be in the field, then you want one that that is free of plugs or other tethers. A gas powered unit can definitely work well here, and it won’t be long before you’re ready to take on virtually any job.

A Quick Recap

Gas Powered Pressure WasherAs we stated before, the gas powered pressure washer definitely has some advantages over your pressure washers electric, but that doesn’t mean you should jump on the bandwagon right away. Sure, gas is better in some cases, but it is also much more expensive. The question you need to ask yourself, is are you going to be on the move enough to justify the purchase? If not then you might definitely wan to rethink what you are buying.

Additionally, consider that gas powered pressure washers let off more emissions than a standard electric model. It might only be a small amount of emission, and it might not make a difference if it is alone, but if you are using several pressure washers in tandem, you can definitely make a carbon footprint, and it’s not going to be easy. That being said, you need to think about what you want, and most importantly, choose the right one.

Now would be a great time to start looking at industrial electric pressure washers or perhaps have a look at some of the more powerful units on the market. There is no doubt that whichever one you choose, you will be able to clean more efficiently than you would have before. It won’t be too long before you’re keeping a perfectly clean house, with incredible vinyl siding, or you might even go so far as to wash the side of your business. Either way, these options will keep you going for the for foreseeable future, whether you choose gas or electric.  It’s time to clean, are you ready?
