Choose the Best Carpet Cleaning Machines Based on your Floor Type

Carpet Cleaning MachinesWhen it comes to cleaning your carpets, there are a few things that you have to take into consideration, the first of which is the nature of the messes that they will face. For this exercise, we are going to assume that you are running a business, and your cleaning is of the commercial nature. If this is the case, then you have to deal with a considerable amount of traffic on a daily basis, and you simply cannot control all of it. Facing that reality, you have to make sure that you are able to keep your office clean, for a few reasons. First of all, you will find that a dirty floor is a great way to repel potential clients and customers – that’s not something you want to do! To put it mildly, it’s not good for business. Secondly it can create sanitation problems throughout your facility that would not be smiled upon by the health department. In fact, more than a few companies have found themselves warned or even shut down as a result of hygienic and sanitation issues. That being said, you need to make sure that you keep your carpet as clean as possible, and you need to make sure that you do so on a regular basis.  A good carpet cleaning machine can save you a lot of trouble but before we get to that, let’s talk about dirt and other debris you might have to deal with.

Getting Down and Dirty

One of the biggest problems you’re going to have to deal with is dirt, as you probably know already. What many people tend to overlook is the fact that dirt is an adhesive, and the only reason water is able to remove it, is that it is electrically charged. Water can be used to remove virtually anything, and when it is combined with soap or other detergents, it becomes twice as strong. It should be no surprise that water is the key component in any carpet scrubber or other professional carpet cleaning machines.

What Sort of Carpet Cleaner do you Need?

There are several different types of carpet cleaners on the market today, and the one you choose honestly depends upon what type of floor you are trying to clean. Right now, there are those with the typical flow rate, and then you have those that use a reduced or low flow model, and with good reason. A low flow device differs significantly in that it produces less water during the cleaning process and therefore requires less drying time. The typical or traditional carpet cleaner would produce enough water that it would require up to twenty-four hours to perform a full cleaning, which would not do in any case. One of the biggest problems with producing that amount of water is the potential for mold growth which is entirely counterproductive when you are trying to clean your carpet.

Another problem with high water flow in a commercial carpet cleaning machine is that it will render your entire floor unusable for a period of time. When you are running a business, this is simply not acceptable.

Steam vs. Scrub

When you’re looking for a carpet cleaning tool, you usually get to make the choice between a scrubber or a steamer, but don’t be fooled: they are not the same thing, even though they do both use heated water. So what is the difference? Is it something that you should care about? It absolutely is.

Carpet Steamer: The main benefit of the carpet steamer is that it does not use chemicals of any kind during the cleaning process. You can use them after the fact, but they are not emitted by the device itself. Instead, it simply uses heated water, or steam to loosen dirt and other debris from the fibers of the carpet. Once this occurs, it will simply vacuum the dirt up, leaving you with a clean carpet once again. It should be noted that this can leave the carpet wet, and it is well known that commercial carpet steamers tend to dry faster due to superior equipment. If you can professional carpet cleaning machines for this purpose, that would definitely be the way to go.

Carpet Scrubber: This is the most popular option as it utilizes chemicals made specifically for the carpet scrubber. Combined with hot water, this is an effective solution, albeit a little more expensive in the long run. You should use a carpet scrubber for tough stains, or for pet urine.

When it comes down to it, the type of carpet cleaning machine you use will be your choice. If you want, you can use a combination of both if you feel the situation warrants it. Now would be a great time to start evaluating your needs and making sure that you have the equipment to handle any spills, messes, or stains that might come your way. Your floor needs a solution, a wet one.
