Industrial Grade Pressure Washing Equipment for Cleaning Vinyl Siding

Cleaning the vinyl siding on a home or business is a great way to make the building seem more inviting. It increases curb appeal without requiring much effort or expense at all. The easiest way to clean vinyl siding is with industrial grade pressure washing equipment because it makes the task quick and easy compared to other vinyl siding cleaning methods. Let’s take a look at the benefits of using an industrial power washer to keep the exterior of any home or business looking great.

Benefits of using an Industrial Power Washer

In addition to helping keep vinyl siding clean, using an industrial power washer also contributes to preventative maintenance around most dwellings. For instance, regularly power washing the outside of the building or home, including sidewalks, driveways and other hard surfaces eliminates mold and mildew buildup that contributes to an unhealthy environment.

Another advantage of pressure washing beyond just cleaning vinyl siding is if a home or business is painted. It is quite the job painting the exterior of a house or other structure, so maintaining it helps extend the time between paintings. Pressure washing painted surfaces using the right nozzle for the job keeps these surfaces looking great for as long as possible. The benefit here is less labor and less cost as painted surfaces last much longer with regular cleaning maintenance.

When used to clean vinyl siding, industrial pressure washers actually restore it to a “like-new” state, even if the siding is many years old. Pressure washing exterior vinyl can actually make any building look like it was just built once again.

How to use a Pressure Washer to Clean Vinyl Siding

Cleaning vinyl siding can be a chore if you don’t use a pressure washer. Using one makes the task much faster and easier. Here is how it is done (we are assuming you have already chosen the right industrial pressure washer for your needs.).

Step 1. Don’t forget the cleaning solution. As with any cleaning task, soap and water works much better than just water alone in removing dirt and stains. Be sure you get a cleaning solution specially made for pressure washing as anything else may not be environmentally friendly, or it may damage internal pressure washer parts.

Step 2. Use slow, consistent strokes to apply the soap. Most pressure washers only apply soap at a low pressure. This allows you to move slowly and overlap your strokes for even coverage. Avoid spraying the soap randomly over the area as you could miss spots that will most likely show when you are finished.

The best way to apply the soap layer is from the bottom up to avoid streaks.

Step 3. Only light scrubbing is necessary. In many cases, no scrubbing is required when using industrial grade pressure washing equipment. However, if it has been a while since the exterior of the building has been cleaned, or you come across any thick buildup of dirt, simply use a handheld scrub brush to loosen the dirt so the pressure washer can rinse it away.

Step 4. Rest and let the cleaning solution go to work. It does little good to apply the cleaning solution and then rinse it off right away. For best results, let the soap layer sit for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing. Just don’t let it dry.

Step 5. Time to rinse. Rinsing is the best part because you get to see just how nice your vinyl siding really is. Take your time with rinsing and start a couple of fee back from the area you are rinsing to be sure you don’t damage anything with the high pressure. Start at the top of the area and work your way down so you are sure you get every inch. Avoid spraying the high pressure stream at eaves, light fixtures and the like so you don’t damage them. Also watch out for windows, as they can break under the pressure as well.
